PT&P designed custom hold-down pipe clamps for pipe sizes ranging in diameters from 6″ to 14″ at a natural gas facility. The HD-3 is an arrestor type hold down used when there is very low thermal movement and these clamps are similar to them but differ due to their adjustable bases. These clamps are fabricated from galvanized carbon steel and include a neoprene lining to absorb vibration.

Custom "Mini" Big Ton Spring Supports Designed for a Centrifugal Fan in an Chemical Refinery
PT&P custom-designed “mini” big ton spring supports to support a large centrifugal fan at a chemical refinery in Texas. They are designed to support a total weight of 33,000 lb. within a maximum space envelope of 4″ wide x 16″ long x 8″ tall. As a result, these mini big-tons were fabricated using coils that could be placed in parallel within their respective frames. Four of the units were comprised of four inner coils nested inside four outer coils to produce an operating load of 4,478 lb. and an overall spring rate of 2,740 lb./in. The smaller load capacity units were configured with four individual coils in parallel with an operating load of 3,735 lb. and a spring rate of 2,300 lb./in. The frame, load flange, and all internal components were fabricated from carbon steel. The spring coils were fabricated from ASTM A-5160 spring steel. All supports were tested through their total working range to confirm load capacity and functionality.

PT&P designed cryogenic trunnion supports for ethylene loss recovery lines at a plant in Texas. The trunnions were fabricated from 2″ dia. stainless steel pipes and have a maximum height of 3′. They include 6″ x 6″ permali® blocks measuring 2″ thick each. The permali® block isolator is a laminated phenolic material from layers of wood impregnated under vacuum and heat with synthetic resin. The temperature range for these supports is from ambient to -300°F.

C-Type Variable Spring Support Assemblies Designed for an Oil Sands Mine
PTP-2 160 C-Type variable spring support assemblies were designed and fabricated for an oil sands mine in Canada. The variables are 8″-12″ diameter, 16″ to 32-1/2″ overall length, and designed for an operating load of 5590 lb. with an upwards travel of 0.787″. The variables were fabricated from carbon steel with a hot-dipped galvanized finish and standard load and travel testing was completed prior to shipment.

These custom designed sway braces and variable spring assemblies were designed for hanger duct work in an aerospace development facility. The assemblies measure 67-1/2″ long with a 14-1/8″ O.D. The variables are a modified F-type spring with a pivoting base and non-standard coil combination, including a nested spring design. The assemblies include fully adjustable travel stops and custom end brackets. They are fabricated from carbon steel and designed for load ranges between 1100 lb. and 9250 lb. with a spring rate of +/- 2.78″.

G-Type Constant Spring Support, 96" Long by 40" High, Designed to Support a 12,818 lb. Load

This PTP-100 Type-G constant spring support is 96″ long by 40″ high and will support a 12,818 lb. load. It has an actual travel of 0.3″ and total travel of 1-1/2″. The G-type constant is comprised of two standard constant spring housing sub-assemblies joined together with an intermediate bridge assembly. The bridge assembly is customized to handle up to 26,000 lb. of hydro load. The G-type assembly allows for use in applications with limited space. Special identification tags were installed in addition to PT&P’s standard name plates per the customer’s request. Standard testing was performed and witnessed by an outside inspector prior to shipment.
Variable Spring Hanger and Pipe Clamp Assemblies Designed for a Cogeneration Plant in Canada
These variable spring hanger and pipe clamp assemblies were custom designed for pipes ranging from 6″ to 20″ diameters at a co-generation plant in Canada. The spring can, threaded rods, weldless eyenuts, welded beam attachments and Fig. 80 pipe clamps were fabricated from hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel. The assemblies are capable of an overall load of 10,790 lb. with a total travel of 1/2″. A total of 21 spring hanger and clamp assemblies underwent standard load and travel testing.
