F-Type Variable Springs with Slide Plates

PT&P fabricated variable springs from hot-dipped galvanized carbon steel components and a neoprene coated spring steel coil. P.T.F.E. slide plates are welded to the load flange to reduce frictional forces generated during lateral movement of the supported pipe. Internal guides are also installed to help maintain vertical alignment of all moving components throughout the anticipated thermal deflection cycle. The installed (cold) load is set to 10,413 lb. With a design travel of 0.720” up, the final operating (hot) load will be 8,974 lb. Each spring is equipped with travel stops and went through load testing prior to shipping.

60" Diameter Cold Support for a Thermal Energy Storage Tank

This cold shoe is manufactured from carbon steel and has 2-1/2″ thick polyurethane insulation. It is designed to support a vertical load of 2700 lb. and can withstand a temperature range from -100°F to 70°F. The cold shoe will be used in a 60″ diameter thermal energy storage tank for power generation.

Big Ton Spring Supports for a Chemical Processing Plant

A total of 18 big ton springs of various sizes were fabricated from A516 Gr. 70N carbon steel. The big tons were designed in a rectangular configuration in order to match the existing vessel saddle supports and the concrete foundation below the springs. PTFE, 25% glass filled slide plates will be welded on the load flanges to allow horizontal movement in addition to the vertical movements specified. The largest of the big ton assemblies has an operating load of 79,000 lb. with a travel of .706″ down.

Custom Vertical Constant Hangers

PT&P manufactured constant spring supports to custom dimensions of 21″ height x 13″ width x 7.5″ depth. The total travel is 7″, with an actual travel of 3.5″ in both up and down directions. The rated load is 180 lb. and they will be used to support pipe lines for a power plant in Louisiana.

Custom Sway Brace Supports

The sway braces will be used in pairs to support a 72″ diameter cooling tower supply line via a common attachment point. The internal components and housing are fabricated from carbon steel, and A-5160 spring steel was used for the coil. Each sway brace has a spring rate of 10,100 lb/in. with an overall available travel of 3″. The adjustable ends are configured so that one end bracket is interlocked with the mating end bracket of its sister sway brace; therefore, enabling them to be connected to the pipe by a single lug.

Foam Glass – PUF Hybrid Cold Supports for 16″ Dia. Pipe

These foam glass-PUF hybrid insulated supports are designed for a temperature range of 77°F to -300°F. They are designed for a 16″ diameter pipe and have a load capacity of 11,050 lb. The 2-1/2″ thick insulation consist of foam glass on the upper half and polyurethane (PUF) on the bottom half. The clamps, ribs and base are fabricated from A-36 carbon steel.

22" Dia. Riser Clamps for a Power Plant

March 2, 2010

All four riser clamps are manufactured from A-36 carbon steel plates and are coated with red oxide primer for rust prevention. They are 22″ in diameter with each plate measuring 2″ thick by 12″ wide by 65″ long. Each riser clamp is capable of supporting loads of up to 38,000 lb. and will be used in a power plant to support “downcomer” lines.
